The following is an ordered checklist of tasks related to starting the Main Street program:
- Form a Steering Committee
- Create a business district inventory / database
- Form or find a non-profit corporation as the legal home of the program
- File for 501(c)(3) status
- Complete and file for official "Main Street" status with the National Historic Trust via the Pennsylvania Downtown Center
- Form the 4 standing committees
- Achieve official 501(c)(3) status
- Achieve official Main Street status
While Dormont Main Street has held some events and public meetings in the past, the real excitement and business/community benefit will start once the 4 committees begin their work.
