It is our understanding that there are some who wish Dormont Main Street to express its opinion for development of this corner lot. As an organization to promote the business district, we developed the following Mission Statement:
1. Promote a sense of community and purpose
2. Assure the Historic continuity of Dormont’s Heritage
3. Improve the image and perception of Dormont to its residents and visitors
4. Strengthen economic rejuvenation of property and commerce.
Regarding our position as to what development would be best for Dormont, specifically a building for the Borough’s elderly or green space for a possible community garden, our organization would respectfully provide a statement of NO POSITION. Interpretation of the Mission Statement would be acceptable to either proposal and there could be other types of proposals for consideration.
It would be our position that this is a Borough Council decision and Dormont Main Street would recommend that all issues should be thoroughly considered. Perhaps there should be a well advertised Public Hearing conducted for official presentation of both proposals and to provide a forum to all that wish to express their opinions.
